Thomas à Kempis

"The pathway to loftier spiritual beauties will be stained with the bloody footprints of wounded self-love."
Alexander MaClaren

Funny Natural "Laws"

MURPHY'S LAW
"If anything can go wrong, it will."

Corollaries
1. If there is a possibility of several things going
wrong, the one that will cause the most damage will
be the one to go wrong.
2. If you perceive that there are four ways in which a
procedure will go wrong, and circumvent these, then a
fifth way will promptly develop.
3. Time is nature's way of keeping everything from
going wrong all at once.

SODD'S LAW
"Sooner or later, the worst possible set of
circumstances is bound to occur."

Corollary
Any system must be designed to withstand the worst
possible set of circumstances.

OSMEYER'S OBSERVATION
"Asking dumb questions is easier than correcting dumb mistakes."

THE ABELENE PARADOX
"People in groups tend to agree on courses of actions
which as individuals, they know are stupid."

BOOKER'S LAW
"An ounce of application is worth a pound of abstraction."

RUDIN'S LAW
"In crisis that forces people to choose among
alternative courses of action most people will choose
the worst one possible."

WRONSKY'S LAW
"It works better if you plug it in."

SEARS' LAW
"Try to imagine the dumbest thing someone could do in a
particular circumstance. This is what the person
whom you are depending on will do."

NEIL'S LAW
"Murphy was an optimist."

JONES' LAW
"The man who can smile when things go wrong has thought
of someone he can blame it on."

PURITAN'S SECOND LAW
"If it feels good, don't do it."

SUGAR'S LAW
"If you are worried about wanting something you don't
have, just think of all the things you don't want that
you don't have."

PIERRE'S LAW
"If it's not broken, don't fix it."

A foolish man seeks nothing, a wise man seeks 'to do',
while the godly man desires 'to be'.
